Nasiol PPFGuard

Why does PPF need to be coated?

Major differences between protection of PPF & Nanocoatings

  1. PPF's primary benefit is that it protects your car from rock chips, scuffs, and scratches.  While nanocoatings do offer some resistance against  minor scratches they will not defend your vehicle from road debris and rocks while driving.

  2. Nanocoatings provide a glossy sheen and offer water repellent properties. PPF can come with a lustrous sheen, but it is generally made clear and has no effect on your vehicle's finish, nor is it able to repel water.

  3. Nanocoatings make your vehicle a lot easier to clean. The water repellent qualities keep debris, grime, and dirt from clinging to your car's exterior. PPF on the other hand sometimes make cleaner even harder.

  4. Quite a few PPF come with self healing function, while only one or two nanocoatings have this property.

4 Reasons You Need Nano Coating on PPF

1. They make PPF last longer
UV rays slowly degrade both the PPF itself and the adhesive keeping it on the paint, resulting in yellowing, cracking, and outright peeling. Although PPF manufacturers say their wraps are UV-resistant, the truth is that protection only lasts for a short while. Nanocoating packed with UV-inhibitors protects against any premature PPF failure.

2. They make PPF easier to clean
Since PPF are not naturally water repellant, it is difficult to keep them clean. One of the great things about nanocoatings is that when they push off water, and they take much of your vehicle’s surface grime with them.

3. They keep PPF from getting damaged
Road tar or tree sap on top of PPF is a nightmare. Stubborn contaminants are notoriously problematic for PPF, often times manufacturers will recommend using harsh chemicals like acetone to break them down even though that risks corroding the film itself. However, if there is a chemical resistant nanocoating on top, PPF will not be corroded by cleaning solutions or contaminant etching.

4. They make PPF look better
As time goes, PPF starts to look pretty worse for wear due to embedded road grime. The problem is more noticeable on white paint. With a nanocoating protecting the film, that kind of road gunk does not embed as easily.
